Re: Hardness: easy. High Ph: hard.

I do have an RO unit so it is easy for me to make a low ph, but getting one much above 7.1 will be hard. Is it true that shells will do this? Make the water higher in ph that is. My water that comes out of the well is hard, though not that hard. What could I do to raise the hardness? I'm not sure of the ppm, but not as hard as it was when I lived in Minnesota. The water there was almost perfect for brichardi cichlids, and my dad's just breed like crazy, and soon he had hundreds of little fry around the tank. If kribensis are African, I thought that would mean high ph, hard water because of other african cichlids. You can tell I haven't found much info on their likings, just on their breeding. Do they like hard water or soft water? Thanks for all your help.
