Cheers Nancy, you're absolutely correct on the picture on Catfish and Loaches (the yellow cover one). As usual I was posting from work and attempting to use my limited memory again. I got home, took the book off the shelf and looked at the cover and thought "ohmygod I've put my foot in it again!". It doesn't actually say anywhere what the cover picture is does it? Or have I overlooked it? I think its a dario too.

As for striata... well I've never seen two pictures that even look alike, the "beaforti" doesn't look like any of the pics in the species info on LOL either. Has anyone got a definitive description and/or pictures of a "confirmed" striata at various stages of maturity? I think fishface_jr is barking up the right tree with the subspecies speculation.

I've just received the Ornamental Aquarium fish of India that Martin reveiwed recently and their picture of striata is different yet again. This one has 21 "double stipes" on a yellowish body. By double I mean they're like dark brown/black with a thin yellow stripe down the middle making a total of 42 thin black lines alternatively seperated by a thick then a thin yellow stripe.

I'll continue later but my mate's just turned up so I'm off down the pub for half an hour.

Dave
