Hi Fishface Jr.

Krib's are from west african rivers which are soft and on the acid side. they have been rumored to even been found in estuarys and can adapt to a quit wide range of water. They are NOT african rift lake cichlids. The ph will determine the sex ratio with fry. I forget if it is acidic water will give more females or male and vice versa. Kribs are generally peacefull, even when mating. They will poke at other fish that come into their teritory but wont pursue them to death. In a 20 gallon might be a little tight for 2 pairs but you may get away with it. You might want to try 2 females 1 male. When the 1st female is busy raising her fry the mail will move over to the other. The male will maintain 1 lager territory probably the whole bottom of the 20 gallon tank. The females will divid up the tank somehow. Don't worry if you get a pair, they will breed. Just give them some caves and put some plants or drift wood to divid the territories up.

They are a wonderful fish, my first fish to breed and one of my favorites Stephen
