thanks. I use the same method for breeding my cory. Thermo off, change with cooler water and up the peat. Works for most;) I have been reluctant to fiddle with the temperature too much. Generaly speaking I'm kidding about wanting desperatly to breed botia. If it happens great! If not ...there is always the cory, cichlids, ect...:) I intend to move the "shoal" out of the 46 and into something with a larger footprint ..maybe then I will get brave and give this a try. Till then... I think I probably have the water movement to satisfy them (two canister fiters, and two powerheads), and the softer water as well.
I read where in Malysia there are captive bred in outdoor pools where they use the Chinese umbrella plat (can not recall species without looking it up:)to drop the pH and soften the water. Some of the overseas mail order sites advertise the yoyo as tank raised, and there is at least one located here in the states that claims the same. If they can do it......maybe I can:) Time will tell.
