Hello BB

Your formula for calculating U.S. liquid gallons from the tank measurements in U.S. inches is corect. I use a different conversion factor, prinicipally because I'm lazy :) Multiply *inside* the glass in inches length times width times height, and divide the answer by 231 cubic inches per gallon (or multiply by .0042329004329.... gallons per cubic inch :) to get the tank volume in U.S. liquid gallons. My "60 gallon" tank actually measures 47.5 inches x 14.5 inches x 16.5 inches to hold 11364 in^3 or 49.2 gallons. After I measure out the amount of displaced water from gravel and driftwood, there's only 40 gallons of water in a 60 gallon tank!

Take care,

Wintek

P.S. More conversions!

1 gallon (U.S. liquid) * 0.833 = gallons (British)

1 gallon (U.S. liquid) * 3.785 = liters

The British, Imperial, and British Imperial gallons are all the same!
