Kuhli Genus Question

Would any one happen to know when, why, and who changed the latin name of the Kuhli Loach genus from Acanthophthalmus to Pangio? Is this a simple renaming of the genus, or have these fish been reclassified? My book use the former name, while the latter seems to been common on the internet. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
