One tough clown

This site has taught me a lot . l originally had one clown, now l have 4 . The first one has been through a lot (l didn't know much about water chemistry back then)he is the biggest and is definitly the boss, he is also a bit of a loner . l have two questions When ever l see him out swimming (when feeding) he always has his top (dorsel ?) fin up . What does this mean ? Also with all 4 clowns, the fins on either side near their gills, and underneath, are very very red, is this normal ? P.S l have a 3 ft tank, good water chemistry, and all 4 have recenty recovered from ick . Sorry for my lack of knowledge about fins .
