Hi Pete,

Sorry to hear of your problems. Is it possible this is mucus overproduction causing the splodges?

Are they scratching against objects? Living at the surface/staying at the bottom? Off their food? Breathing heavily? Are all your fish showing symptoms or just these two? Are there any other visible signs - visible white tufts would be fungus. Black spots might be some kind of external parasite.

Have you changed/added/removed anything recently? What else is in the aquarium -plants, fish, snails, rocks? What are the parameters
