So the phosphates are coming from the tapwater? And he recommends increasing the water changes, thus introducing more phosphates? Yeah, that'll work!

Seriously though, have a look for stuff by Wintek in the archives as he seems to have a thing for phosphates. Personally I don't mess around with my water and I've got all sorts of nice looking algae growing in my new tank already. The tank's 4 weeks old today and got its first patches of brown algae a couple of weeks ago. Last week it caught a bit of sunlight and now has green algae interspersed with the brown all over the back and side glass. Looks kinda funky but there are loachy mouth marks all over the green patches...
