I probably blew any chances I ever had of getting insde the distributors by asking too many questions already. Of course they deny any ill effects using oxygen to bag and ship fish. Basicaly if it was deadly it would not be done. There is not a huge market for dead aquarium fish as pets:) This I accept. I agree oxygen is oxygen no mater how it is manufactured, but is there not a difference when is comes to state and concentration? Concentration I would imagine is important. I think that is what was ment by "not the same oxygen", at least that is what I took it to mean.

You raise more questions for me to inquire after. Never thought to ask if the fish were visibly damaged prior to arrivial because it seemed that dammaged fish would be refused upon delivery. So your thinking is most logical. You are thinking how the water is affected by absorbing more oxygen and what happens internaly in the miniture gas exchange environment of the bag, and I am thinking what happens when the species in question gulps atmospheric air directly. Very odd that in every account that I have heard to date is specific to fish that share this ability;) What happens when fish are deprived of Nitrogen that is nprmaly stored in the tissue ect. and an abundance of oxygen is taken in? Normaly this is no big dealbecause the oxygen is not stored and used completly. Is it still used completely? I would guess so but at what cost to other gasses? Time is a factor as best as I can tell. Suppose the bags are thicker mil from the distributor then from the lfs but can not prove that one. Feel the same to me;) From what I can find in medical medical books in humans breathing pure oxygen for a period of two days or more leads to permanent lung dammage and longer periods in brain seizures and posible death. Oxygen toxicity is how is it named. Fish, smaller, faster heart, more oxygen consumed per mass as compared to humans ...something there perhaps. Then again I should have kept my mouth closed from the start. Bad idea to suggest on my part without the understanding to explain. Could be using thinner bags, letting more atmospheric air in when filling the bag, using a twist tie in lieu of a rubberband, increasing stocking, instead of floating the bag bubble water with an airstone first....ect would prove helpful. I think there is something here. I just do not know exactly what that might be. Perhaps if this only happens when bags are spun to the left:o Yeah, that's it;p
