help, sick khuli?

Hi I have two beloved khuli loachess and one of them is behaving VERY strangely. It is quite fat and keeps swimming up to the surface for air. At the moment, its lying on the back of the filter, about 5cm froom the surface of the tank. It also appears to be 'hyperventilating'. I don't know whether its sick or pregnant or what. Can anyone give me any advice? thanks Mark
