A few years back I tried putting 3 Modestas in with about 6 or 7 Clown Loaches. The Modestas were very aggressive towards the Clowns, trying to bite at their tails and generally hogging all the caves ! All fish were of about the same size, but I found that the Modesta's caused too much stress to the Clowns. The Modestas did not seem to pick on each other though.
