New loach fan needs basic advice.

I have just purchased my first clown loach, originally to help with a snail problem, but now I find that this particular fish is my number one favourite. Heres the Q: Should I have only one clown loach in my 200+ litre tank. He/she/it appears lonely??? or unhappy. I noticed with my corridoris that it made a huge differnece after purchasing a partner and wondered if the same effect would be predictable. Any beginner advice on this guy would be appreciated.
