I made a one time payment of $800US. I bought a 5000 watt generator. Again, I too am unconcerned about Y2K, but I did loose power when Hurricane Floyd went through and it didn't return for 40 hours. That storm, combined with a few other things convinced my wife and I to fork out the cash. On our property the power company has two poles in the woods bringing the power to the house. Since it is in the woods, I am afraid that a tree could take out a line and the power company will not be to rushed to get it back on. There are other justifications, but the fish were always near the top
