Substrate

l have a question about substrate . l am almost ready to set up my 60g community tank . l plan to inject co2 using Co2 gas with a regulator and a needle valve . l plan on planting around 70% of the tank, and have been thinking what substrate l should use ? l'm thinking of using something like laterite or peat then a good layer of small gravel 4ml . Any suggestions ? l currently have 4 nice clown loaches, and plan on adding 7 black neons ; 7 zebra danios ; 7 prisella tetras ; 3 zebra loaches . 4 kuhli loaches . l plan on using a 304 fluval cannister filter . l've thought of using substrate coil heating, but its just too expensive . Thinking about using heating pads, like the ones used on home brewing beer . That way l would get good use of them later . The only chemicals l hope to need is a carbonate hardness booster, to help maintain my PH . Any thoughts would definitly helpful . TIA
