golden dojo just hangs there

I've been very busy with classes and work lately so I am ashamed to admit I haven't paid much attention to my tank other than feeding them.
I have noticed, though, that most of the time my little golden dojo prefers to just "hang" amongst the leaves of a tall plant - literally. A preferred position seems to be the tail propped between some leaves and the front half hangs down. Or sometimes he rolls himself into a leaf. What worries me is that he doesn't ever go anywhere else. I rarely see him on the bottom and he doesn't swim around. When I feed it's like he doesn't even notice it even when right above his head, but he looks OK. This is weird to me because my previous brown dojo was much more active and hungry. Anyone else with a golden dojo notice anything strange about them?
2 side-notes:
When doing a cleaning tonight I tugged on my tall plant and found that it had taken root into the undergravel plate. I was kinda pleased that I'm doing a good job with the plants! This is a first for me.
When reinserting the smaller plants into the gravel, one of my "shell dwellers" (I don't know their real name) attacked me! It startled me so badly I yelped, then laughed. I thought they were pretty shy little fish that ran into their shells when scared. One is like this...the other seems bent on protecting his hangout under a piece of driftwood. I had to hold him in a net against the glass to finish. Fish are strange.
