Hi Philip. Pseudogastromyzons are hillstream loaches, that is, they come from fast-flowing mountain steams. There is not a lot of information available to the general public about these fascinating fishes, but I'll try to relay to you most of what I know. They have adapted to their unusual conditions by becoming streamlined and developing a suction mechanism. They prefer lower temperatures(65-75 degrees F) and highly oxygenated water. I have heard recently that they like to burrow. I plan to change the substrate in my tank to sand to see if this is true. Water should be soft to medium hard,
