Loaches behaving strangely - help!

Hi everybody. I may be having a problem with my Clown Loaches, and I hope to find out what it's wrong before it's too late, so I hope someone can help me.

I have had four Clown Loaches for several weeks. They've been doing fine and behaving as one expects them to do, that is, until this morning, when they began quarreling amongst themselves. They even swim differently, i.e. their fins move much faster (sort of flutter) than they usually do. They behave somewhat erratically, and them they just attack each other in the fashion rams do (head first).

One of my loaches seems, however, to be left outside this. He has always been sort of "odd man out", that is to say, usually three of them hang around and this fourth one keeps for himself. Whereas his colors are unchanged, the other guys have become paler.

I had a feeling I might be underfeeding (I have many fishes in my tank, and many bottom-feeding fish among these), and that their behavior might be due to competition for food. So I gave them a substancial portion of live food and they were absolutely ravenous! After that their aggressive behavior subsided significantly, but they still attack each other now and then. They seem to be competing for the main hiding place as well.

What can be wrong? Please help! I love my loaches, they are my favorite!

Thanks!

Lydia
