Good points. I try to live by the creed in this hobby of "whatever works." If you have had success using table salt and find it easier and more reliable to measure, then more power to ya. :-)

I used to be a careful measurer in the past, but now out of sheer laziness and/or just "getting a feel" for matters, I make a lot of close approximations. I've always used aquarium salt because of all the debate surrounding table salt over the years (mostly based upon speculation -- however, also what I do best :-), and that it has been sold in aquarium shops for years as "aquarium salt." As you pointed out though, table salt works well (that without Yellow Prussiate of Soda) and is *certainly* easier to measure.

I don't want to get too much off the subject of Loaches here though, but over the years, when I did use rock salt (I no longer do unless I were to have an outbreak of ich), my Corys seemed to do well. I never had any problems with them, even with my higher concentrations of rock salt that I used.

Have a great day, Stu! :-)
