I kind of agree with the loachster, not worth it. Like said, the bugs have to get into the tube to be killed and a lot of time the they do not. UV filters are also said to be good on algae, and the truth is similar the algae has to pass through the tube, so only floating algae is effected and some other algae spoors. Like you eluded to there is an effect on plant nutrients too, trace elements like iron and such will be oxidized out of solution despite the chelator. That is not good especially if you are paying for the fertilizers. Bottom line is the UV filter will offer you some gains to your d
