Since the tank is only 2 weeks old and fish are already in it I doubt the substrate has had a chance to cycle... therefore the best way to find out is to gently prod the substrate with your fingers. If the dojo is at least a year old he/she should be a nice size and this will flush the loach out. To answer your question it has been my experience that this loach does burrow in the substrate provided the gravel is smaller then #5. If you really want to see something intresting purchase a horsefaced loach a.k.a sand loach and put this in a tank with a sand substrate. I somet
