A question for the experts

Most advice I had read or been give says keep the NitRate levels below 25ppm for clowns. However at these levels I get no algae gowth (lucky you I hear someone say). I want to get more Otto cats as for little sucker mouths they are very active, docile and its fun to try to spot where they are hanging around. I don't really want plecos or similar as I want the space in the tank for the clowns as they grow.

So whats the problem? No algae for the algae eaters and for some reason I cannot find any LFSs in the area that sell algae wafers. Any suggestions apart from letting the Nitrate levels rise a little?

Thanks

Alistair

PS. Its sort of a Loach related question, honest!
