Enzyme, hormone secretions..and growth

I had a conversation this night about clown loaches. The conversation started out with the other participant syaing "Clown loaches need a min. of 80 gallons....Who writes this stuff" My reply was "Probably someone with the fishes best intrest at heart". Now while I'm not suggestiong that an individual clown reguires an 80 gallon tank, I do believe most (if not all) fish would benefit from a larger tank. I suspect this info takes into consideration that clowns are best kept in groups and altough they do grow slowly...they do indeed need space when mature. I believe it's called planning ahead.
