Dying Plecostomus

My Plecostomus is sick or dying, and I don't see what could be wrong. The first thing that I noticed was that it was starting to lie on the bottom, instead of its usual sucking on the glass. Then, it couldn't stay on the bottom, and kept trying to get down, but kept floating up. Finally, last night, it was on the bottom, and I thought that it was alright, but when I found it this morning, it was stuck to the filter sucking tube. I thought that it was dead, and I touched it with the net, and it swam down to the bottom. I am thinking that it will probably die, but I will need to get some more in the future, because with the amount of fish I have, the algae grows fast. If someone can tell me how to better the conditions for the Plecostomus, I would appreciate it.
