I have 6 clown loaches, and the only time they come out of their cave is when the lights are on. I've heard the same thing, about loaches being nocturnal, but once their light goes out, the loaches all go into their cave to sleep. My light are set to be on for 15 hours a day, for my own viewing pleasure, using a standard wall timer, and the whole time the lights are on, some, or all of the loaches will venture from their cave, to dig in the gravel, or play in the current provided by the pumpheads to my undergrave filtration.
