I have five clown loaches, all two-three inches in length. One seems to be pregnant, or rather, filled with roe; her stomach is distended and darker. Is this possible? What should I do? I understand they will lay eggs and abandon them, but that also they like to eat eggs whenever possible. I have a fry house set up; should I put the "mother" in there now? How long do they need before laying the eggs? Do they need to be fertilized by a male afer being laid? It would be very exciting to have babies!!! Especially since they have not been bred in captivity, and they seem to be getting rather expensive in the shops.
