Wounded YoYo - Any Advice?

In the process of cleaning an external filter, we found that one of our yoyo's had decided to take up residence inside, but not before the yoyo accidentally got dumped into the garbage disposal (which was fortunately not running at the time!). As a point of clarification, he wasn't just in the canister part of the filter - we've long ago learned to look for that. He was down inside the rubber housing where the rotors are (sorry, don't know the technical terms for this stuff). Anyway, once he ended up in the disposal, we kept the water running until we were able to get him out, which took several minutes. By that time of course he was so flipped out he'd raised his spines up, and during the course of extracting him one his spines was injured. Now it looks as though it'
