LFS markup

At the LFS/petstore I work at, mark up on fish is 2.5, or 250 percent the cost of buying a single fish from our supplier. I.E. if it costs us $1.39 to buy a single khuli from our supplier, retail will be $3.49. Of course, if we opt to buy a "lot" of one or two dozen khulis, the price per loach decreases to say $1.10, which increases the profit margin. The $2.00 "profit" goes to pay me my crappy wage, plus pay power bills, fish meds, dead fish, broken equipment, rent on the space, managers salary, etc.
Lets see, we started out at 7 cents US, right? If they are going for $1 at to the LFS, then we are talking 1400% markup in between, not too bad when you call it 93 cents per fish.
thats my $0.02 (not enough to buy a khuli!)
