In Response To: Any other loaches eat snails? (Ratfish)

It's been my experience that JUST ABOUT any BOTIA Species you come across in the lfs will eat snails. The smaller species (morleti/hora, sidthimunki, and striata, dario) have a tough time with the bigger ramshorn and apple snails but that dosen't stop them from trying. Species like lecontei, modesta, hymenophysa, helodes, beauforti, macracantha, lohachata, alhamore, gheto/rostrata, superciliansis seem to do just fine with any reasonable sized snails in my tanks. Floks at the aquarium society think I'm off my rocker because on several ocassions a friend has brought a bag of snails to auction. Since most aquarists are trying to avoid snails they don't understand why I bid the $1 for the whole bag. If they only knew how much my loaches enjoyed eating them:) BB
