Yellow Water

I just have a simple question, maybe. I have a 37 Gal with 3 clown loaches(4"), 2 Kissing Gouramis(3"), 4 Rainbow's(3"). I have an undergravel w/a power head and a Triad 40 power filter. I do a 30% water change weekly and I siphon the gravel every 2 weeks. My problem is that when I look long ways thru the tank the water is yellowish/brown. I feed the fish flake food along with tablets from Tetra and Shrimp pellets from Wardley. Live food is also provided. Any ideas to how I might clear the water. This just started recently. This is my first time on the web so I thought I would give this a try. Also any ideas on what I could feed my clowns. I want to keep them healthy and growing big. They will be moved to 155 Gal.
