my clowns don't know they're nocturnal

hello, i am just wondering if it is possible to have un-nocturnal clown loaches. i keep my tank in my room so i get a lot of chances to see them in the light and dark, and i honestly think my three sleep all night (in strange places at times but still...) this is important to me right now because i am evaluating whether or not i have a fin nipping issue, which i don't think i do. if i did it would be the clowns at night. anyways, out of curiousity, is it a solid given that they are nocturnal? i am not sure that mine are even aware of their genetic backgrounds. at this point my danios, clown loaches and siamensis have become 9 simaese clown danios. they aren't much like everything i read and hear. any thoughts or experiences? thanks, rachel
