Here's my solution for a 45 gallon and my need for dead quiet. My mom had a triple bypass last year and when she came home she was put on oxygen for awhile. When she was all done with the oxygen there was an extra remote tank airline. At over 50 feet ( 16 meters ) I was able to put my airpump in the bathroom. I then ran the airline into my room and to my tank. What an answer to prayer. I've tried different pumps and etc. for years. That worked great i hope it helps you.
