The weather laoch and the stone loach, which are native to the Uk will quite happily overwinter outside - ice won't bother them unless they freeze solid. Some of the hillstream loaches are cold water fish, I'm not sure if they';d overwinter outside though. If it's 'tropical' I wouldn't try it, check out the native habitats for a guide. Ian
