Horsefaced Loach

Could anyone tell me how well the Horsefaced Loach are on algae. The fish store told me thay are good on algae and they do not grow to big. Mine are about 3 inches long now. How much bigger are they going to grow? What are some of the other foods I can give to them when there is no more algae.
