Hi Rose, Sorry to hear about your loss. When I chenged the gravel in a tank, I siphoned some water into a bucket and put all the decorations and plants in it, hoping to retain as much of the bacteria as possible. It would be best if you could wait to change the filter Hope that helps, and good luck.
