According to Dr. Paul Loiselle, "Loach scales, when present at all tend to be small and deeply imbedded in the skin." That would lead me to believe that some do and some don't. That's really a lot of help, isn't it? :-) I wish he would go into more detail. It's so hard to find good information. I borrowed a video on "Catfish and Loaches, the Bottom Dwellers". It had 23 minutes on catfish, and 2 minutes on loaches.
