Ok, there are small black dots, like you said, over the fins and along the upper edges of the fish. If they are larval fresh water clams, I'm a little preturbed because the fish have been established in the aquarium for a while now (two at > 8 months, two at over a year). This is a little odd for me, because larval stages shouldn't last this long (should they?).

Hopefully they will go away like yours have. Time will tell.
