In Response To: depends on the loach (ian)

I read the comments by Ian that Weather and Stone loaches are able to winter outside.

I have an outside pond that recirculates from an upper pond to a lower pond. I control algae with plants. I get some from local ponds. However, I also got some snails with the plants. I was told that Clown loaches eat snails, but form what I see on the postings they would not survive in my pond.

My question is will Weather and Stone loaches eat snails? Is there a better fish to control snails in an outside pond?

Thanks,

Tony
