Advice needed on filtration remodeling, or not

I am considering removing my UGF from my 70 gallon tank, only because I think I am over doing this filtration thing a bit.
The tanks about a month old. I have a few cichlids in it (whom are looking for a new home) and 3 4" B. Modestas.
The filtration is A 403 fluval A seastorm fluidized bed filter 1000 series and a full tank UGF with power heads
I have the fluval hooked up in tandem with the seastorm so that the fluval prefilters and seastorm polishes the water. I tend to run very hi nitrate levels in all my tanks and the filtration is always the same on each tank (unless 20 gallon and under I don't use the seastorms)
Any advice? or PoV's? Thanks
