upside down loaches¿

I was about to go to bed when I looked in my tank and saw my clown laying upside down with his belly against some slate. I have no upside down catfish so he isn't imitating them....I think he is just trying to get me to worry. Anyhow when I looked in I must have scared him cause he ran to his hiding spot. Any idea on why he did this? I do not think his swim blatter is infected or anything cause he swims normal most of the time. Thanx
