Loaches and Plants

I'd like to re-visit this subject. I noticed there were some recent posts regarding plants... and I have spent a lot of money on plants only to have them die off... or be uprooted by the clowns until they die... what are your techinques for plants... how much light is needed? how do you keep your beloved clowns from bulldozing everything down... what type of substrate is best?

Do any of you have a plant bible you can recommend...

I ask all of these questions because I am getting prepared to restart up a tank... 29 gallon... but I don't want to burn a lot of cash trying to stock it with plants.

I do have one tank that has done very well... but it does not have any loaches... so I just wanna know the secr
