This morning we went to our local Pet store and are a little embarassed to report that the eggs probably belonged to the Angel fish. According to the store manager, the fact that neons rarely breed in captivity and Loaches have never bred in captivity can only lead to the Angel fish conclusion. The manager said that an Angel fish will commonly lay eggs, just like birds, even if no male is present. Though she didn't seem to believe us when we told her that Angel is 7 years old (will be 8 in January) . She said that unfertilized eggs would turn fuzzy, but these didn't--they just disappeared.
