I agree with that, try a large worm and leave it in there over night. Hiding just means they are nervous. But if they are nervous enough well they may wither away. Always look for plump speimens at the store. Again since they took a trip from their small stream in Asia all the way to your tank in the last couple weeks, well they can be very stressed. I would make sure you have a nice safe quite hiding place for them to use as a security blanket. A lot of loaches are partially nocturnal. They will do a lot of sleeping in the day and their eating at night. I mean I have never seen one of mine pass up a blood worm, but you never know. I would add a few sinking pellets at night and hope for the best. Mine also love Algae Wafers. You know the ones with spirolina that are made for algae eaters. Well loaches love veggies:)
