Salt?

I've got a 55gal tank w/3 Clown Loaches, 4 Lemon Yellow Cichlids and a Pl•co. I've heard much variation on whether or not you should add salt and how much should be added. I'm curious as to how the Loaches will react to salt in my tank. Do any of you run your tanks w/salt?

I'm new to fishkeeping but I've quickly realized that Loaches are absolutely crazy. I've named mine Larry, Moe and Curly:)
