That's right, as the fish are basicly not grounded in the current, they don't notice. As soon as we stick our hands in the tank we instantly ground the tank and provide a path for the electrcity to the floor etc....

It's a bit like hanging off a one power line , you won't get electrocuted until you touch the ground or grab the one next to it and create a circut....

In my home town, we used to see fruit bats hanging off single power lines all the time and have no harm come to them until they tried to swap wires, they would reach across to the next one and that was it for them. I'm sure it was quick.... They tended not to be nice ornaments for powerlines in any case....
