In Response To: Loach companions (Dr. Momfish)

I managed to kill all the fish in my tank except the loaches with an overdose of CO2, and the loaches (7 of them), which had been very outgoing before, went into hiding. They never came out when I was around, even to eat. When I replaced the other fish a few weeks later, the loaches came out again and were just as gregarious as ever.

I hadn't realized until then that they really did need dither fish. They get on extremely well with my SAE's and discus. They were a bit too boistrous for the corys, and the corys are doing much better in a tank with no competition from other bottom feeders.
