Second Mouth?

Anyone ever seen C. Loaches do that "second-mouth" thing? If you have, you know what I'm talking about. Look kinda like they are yawning and then this odd lip-like tube comes out with their barbles all splayed about. I've read that the yawning action in fish generally means that the water's chemistry is off...checked mine and all seems fine and the fish have never looked/acted healthier...just curious if anyone has any hypotheses... Cheers, Andrew
