Hi Joe Loach,

Glad to see you are 'back'. As I understand the life cycle of ich, the beast has no option. When it is mature it falls off. By increasing the temperature, the speed of growth (metabolism) is increased, making the cyst fall off that little bit quicker. The salt in the water irritates the skin of the fish, causing it to produce a little bit more slime. This is turn makes is slightly more difficult for the beasty to attach itself in the first place, and encourages it to leave as soon as it can. Metaphorically speaking.
