The Best Filtration?

I have the wonderful opportunity to upgrade my 75 gallon loach tank to a 125! But my greatest wonder is what is the "BEST" filtration to use? And is a undergravel still effective at that size. Does anyone have experience with the larger end of tanks? Also I know that for lighting you want a watt a gallon but is it okay to go brighter?
