I keep 6 clowns and a male betta (amongst others) and they all get on fine. The only observation I have is similar to Anne's in that my yo-yos do a little fin nipping on my Angelfish (despite being 4 times bigger), but seem to leave the betta alone. The Betta is totally placid - or was, until the angel came out, now the betta chases my silver sharks! Fish are really odd! Actually, take a look at sliver (or Bala) sharks for upper water fish. They are constantly on the move and very placid with the only down side is they can grow quite big (6-8"). They apparnetly don't change on behaviour as they get bigger whi
